Midwest Animal Rescue & Services is pleased to announce our 2nd Annual "Make a Move for MARS", presented by the DoubleTree Hotel Downtown Saint Paul!!
A day of family fun, great games, and wonderful thank you gifts!
Festivities and game play start at noon, a sandwich bar will be served shortly after the start. Set up, meet new people, bring your game group and start an epic campaign or get the chance to play the latest hobby game you have been itching to play. All to help animals in need.
As we turn to the evening hours there will be a pizza bar served to quell your hunger from an afternoon of building up resources, raiding dungeons, dominating on the battlefield or licking your wounds.
Our top 20 fundraisers will be invited to attend a cocktail hour with special guest Tony Amendola (Stargate:SG1, Once Upon a Time). At the end of the cocktail hour, our top 3 fundraisers will get to sit down with Tony to play a game of his choice.

What is it and how does it work?
What is Make a Move for MARS?
Make a Move for MARS is an online participant driven fundraiser that culminates in a “Game Day" celebration being held on March, 28th 2015.
Who does it benefit?
All proceeds go to Midwest Animal Rescue & Services (MARS) to help cover the costs of the veterinary needs for animals in our care.
Who is MARS?
MARS is a foster-based, no-kill, 501(c)3 non-profit, canine and feline animal rescue established in 2007 and based in Brooklyn Park, MN. In an average year, we rescue and rehome over 2,000 animals, primarily from high kill shelters. Since our inception over 10,000 animals have been saved!
How does it work?
You register as a participant (fundraiser) and help raise money for MARS! There are thank you gifts/prizes you can earn for different fundraising levels. You must raise a minimum of $50.00 to participate in the Make a Move for MARS event on March 28th, 2015. You can see the thank you gifts/prizes here.
When can you sign up?

Can I create a team?
Yes! Teams are a fun way to get your friends, family and coworkers to join you. This year there are no team prizes. All prizes are awarded at the individual fundraising level.
May I bring my dog and/or cat?
No, while this is to benefit dogs and cats of MARS, the hotel and the event itself is not conducive for our fur kids to attend.
If I sign up now and start fundraising what happens on March 28th, 2015?
On March 28th, 2015 we will gather at the DoubleTree Hotel in Saint Paul and celebrate your fundraising efforts with a 12 hour game day dedicated to you and the animals in our care.
Do I need to sign up before the event or can I just register the day of the event?
Signing up and becoming a participant early is preferred, but you may come the day of the event and donate to participate in the event with a minimum donation is $50.00. If you wait until the day of the event to register, we cannot guarantee the availability of thank you gift/prizes.
What can I expect at the event?
The event itself is an open free-for-all game day. Bring your favorite games to play with your fellow participants or recruit a team of your current gaming group and come down for a day of gaming.
Will there be food?
Yes! There will be two food bars served at the event! One will be a sandwich bar that will take place near the start of the event. The other is a pizza bar that will take place in the evening. These will be provided by our host and MARS at no cost to you.
How long is the event?
Virtually, the event began in January and will end on March 28th, 2015. The event itself will run from 12:00 pm to 12:00 am.
Do I have to stay for the entire event to have the donations counted?
While we would love to have you for the entire event as we are celebrating your work and the animals you are helping it is not required. Donations recruited by fundraisers are single one time donations and are not tied to hours or number of games played.
By participating will I get to meet Tony Amendola?
Possibly, but not a guarantee. Tony is making a special appearance for the top 20 fundraisers. This will be the top 20 in total donations acquired for the event. The top 20 will be determined during the check-in and day of registration. Registrations will run all day, but final online totals will be confirmed at 11:30 am via a printed report from the site on March 28th. The top 3 fundraisers will earn the privilege to play 'Ticket to Ride" with Tony.
Is there a minimum threshold in order to meet Tony?
No, it will simply be the top 20 fundraisers.
Will there be games available at the event?
No, while our pending sponsors may end up bringing games for participants to play, there will be no games provided at the event. We encourage you to bring your own or plan with your personal gaming group that may be participating.
